List of technical information

Light source usual terms and explanation
      A. Luminous flux / lumen - If a light source of 1 candela luminous intensity (about the intensity of a normal wax candle!) is positioned at the center of a sphere of 1 meter radius, then every square meter on the inside of that sphere will receive a luminous flux of 1 lumen.

      B. Color Uniformity of LED - In the manufacturing of semiconductor products, there is a variation of performance around the average values of different parameters. Since LED is made using the semiconductor technology, it is usual to have discrepancy for color temperatures among the LEDs with same color.

      C. Watt - The unit of measuring electrical power. Watts does not relate to the light output power. It defines the rate of energy consumption by an electrical device when it is in operation. The energy cost of operating an electrical device is defined as wattage time in hour of use.

      D. Light Level - Light intensity measured on a plane at a specific location is called illuminance. Illuminance is measured in footcandles, which are workplane lumens per square foot. Using a light meter located on the work surface to measure illuminance where tasks are performed.(Lux is the metric unit for illuminance, measured in lumens per square meter. To convert footcandles to lux, multiply footcandles by 10.76).

      E. LED - Benefits of using LEDs to replace discharge lamps:
      i). Energy Efficiency
Less engergy to generate the same amount of lumen output.
      ii). Long Life
iii). Large range of colors available
      iv). Rugged and Durable
      v). Compact Size/Design Flexibility
      vi). No UV Emissions/Little Infrared
